Nick Johnston

Nick Johnston is part of the Audit Quality Group at the New Zealand Office of the Auditor-General. Nick is responsible for quality assurance over the various products produced by the Office, including annual audits performed by appointed auditors. His role includes managing the quality reviews of appointed auditors, the reporting of findings to the appointed auditors, identifying training issues, and advice about the results of the reviews, for consideration as part of the auditor appointment process. Nick also was a member of the 2019 peer review of the Canadian Office of the Auditor-General.

Whether north or south of the Equator, auditors need robust structures for quality assurance. This session will help synergize efforts by APIPA and the Pacific Association of Supreme Audit Institutions to support. This session is a direct response to recent assessment results and SAI needs identified at the August, 2019 PASAI Congress. We will discuss current quality assurance frameworks, efforts, and next steps in the region to maintain and enhance audit quality.
